Hey everyone! Workin' hard on the HTPC with lots to share! All products are in, and I've set everything up. Everything has worked as I had hoped, with only minor tweaking needed. I'm in the final phases of tweaking and testing, and hope to whitepaper my progress soon.
For now, I'd like to talk about where to purchase your products. Before purchasing anything, think about what you'll need to make the unit work - you'll want all the latest (HDMI, a fast hyperthreading processor, a dual or quad tuner card with OTA and NTSC, and enough storage to record days of Hi-Def). Flexibility and future growth is also a consideration, as you'll need a unit that will accept additional drives and incorporate Blu-Ray without sacrificing performance.
NOTE: You must have desire, time, and a budget in mind to make this unit work properly. Even though I've spent little time in setting things up (72 hours or so), the cost of and waiting for products to arrive have been the greatest challenges. I'll detail each of these in my next posting.
